Tara's Travel Journal: Melon Pops

When Tara visited the Philippines (in the January 2013 issue), she learned how to make tasty Melon Popsicles.


1 whole cantaloupe (about 4 pounds)
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
6 cups water
Popsicle sticks
Popsicle molds or small paper cups


1. Ask a parent to help you dice the cantaloupe into small pieces. Throw away the rind and the seeds.
2. Pour cantaloupe, milk and water into blender. Puree until smooth.
3. Refrigerate mixture for about 10 minutes.
4. Pour about 1/4 cup of mixture into each Popsicle mold or cup.
5. Place pops in the freezer. After 30 minutes, stick Popsicle sticks into each mold.
6. Freeze melon pops another 4 hours or until frozen.
7. To release Popsicles, dip molds into bowl of warm water.
